Leo Betz
Leo Betz, 82, of Greeley died Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley.
He was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to Frank and Margaret (Kaiser) Betz.
On Nov. 25, 1942, he married Irene M. Schoneman in Gering, Neb.
Mr. Betz fed 4,000 head of sheep in Bayard, Neb., for three years. He moved to Greeley in 1947 and owned a dairy business for 26 years. He later went to work for Hertzke-Holsteins and later for Jerry Mossberg Dairy. He retired in 1996.
Mr. Betz enjoyed woodwork, fishing, the mountains and time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and a past council member for Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He loved to Dutch Hop and enjoyed singing and playing his harmonica.
Survivors are his wife, Irene Betz of Greeley; a son, Dennis Betz, also of Greeley; three sisters, Marie Michael and Esther Friser, both of Bayard, and Rose Micor of Denver; a brother, Rueben Betz of Greeley; a granddaughter and four grandsons; three great-grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; and a stepgreat-grandson.
A daughter, Carolyn Ann Betz, died in 1993, and his parents, two sisters, Martha Valentine and Ruthie Newman, and a brother, Raymond Betz, are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
