Charlene Starrs, 77, of Cheyenne died Aug. 26 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 31, 1934, in Cheyenne. She was the daughter of Hal and Ruth (McLees) Ashenhurst. When she was 2 years old the family moved back to Wheatland, and she was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Wheatland High and the University of Wyoming.

She married Bill Starrs in Cheyenne on Oct. 11, 1973.

She was a member of the Cheyenne Country Club, PEO Chapter AQ, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Civic League and president of the Nine Holes Ladies at the Fountain of the Sun in Mesa, Ariz.

Mrs. Starrs is survived by her husband, Bill; and son, Dr. Alan (Debbie) Richardson; daughters, Elaine (Jon) Willis and Carla (Rick) Howard; seven grandchildren, J.D. Richardson, Michael Richardson, Justus Willis, Jordan Willis, Nathan Howard, Samuel Howard and Livia Howard; brother, Larry (Gaynell) Ashenhurst; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Ruth Ashenhurst.

She enjoyed playing golf, Creative Memories, watching her grandchildren's activities and reading and studying the Bible.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Schrader Chapel with Pastor Bryan McLees officiating. Cremation is at Schrader Funeral Home.
