SUMMERFIELD – William E. Aper, Sr., 75, passed from this life February 10, 2015. Born in Lafayette, Indiana, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Northrup) Aper.

William was a senior environmental control specialist for the Eli Lilly Co. and retired after 25 years of service. He was a decorated Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War serving two tours of duty and receiving two Purple Heart medals. He came to Summerfield from Lafayette, Indiana in 1995. He enjoyed gardening and golf and was a member of the American Legion Post #347 of Lady Lake, FL.

William leaves his wife of 29 years, Pamela A. (Mann) Aper, two sons, William E. Aper, Jr., (Cathy) of Lafayette, Indiana; Timothy Aper of Little Rock, Arkansas; step-son, James Kresl (Heather) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; step-daughter, Jennifer Weitgenant (Jeremy) of Greyslake, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, two brothers, Tom Aper and Jack Aper both of Orlando, FL; and two sisters, Mary Hollis (Jerry) of Lafayette, Indiana and Dorothy Bates of Alexander City, Alabama.

Committal Services will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project.
