Obituary from Post Register (Idaho Falls, ID) - 12 March 1995:
REXBURG - Wilma Sumner Bean, 71, former Madison County Deputy assessor, died March 9, 1995, at her home.
She was born February 27, 1921, at Rexburg, to William G. and Olivia N. Sumner. She attended Ricks College where she won the State declamation competition, and Brigham Young University.
On June 5, 1941, she married Glenn C. Bean in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1942, they moved to California for three years.
When Glenn was drafted, she moved to Rexburg and worked in the Liberty Clothing Store.
She was a member of the VFW auxiliary, serving as president for a time; the Republican Party, serving as the Madison County Republican Party chairperson; Idaho's Gov. Robert E. Smylee's representative at President Eisenhower's Whitehouse Conference for Families in Washington, D.C.; secretary to the Secretary of the Idaho State Senate in 1961; and was employed for 16 years as Madison County Deputy Assessor.
When she could, she enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, crocheting and traveling to visit her family.
She was a member of the LDS Church, where she deeply appreciated the association with her ward members, neighbors and friends.
Survivors include her husband of Rexburg; children, Scott and Sherrie Lee Thomas and William G. "Bill" and Nancy Bean, all of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Her parents and a sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at noon at the Rexburg 6th ward, Cresthaven Chapel, with Bishop Thomas Croasmun officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and Tuesday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
