7-17-1899 - George K. Adams was killed Monday afternoon by a falling tree while working in the woods on the R. M. Morrison job. A tree was cut and in falling struck a dead stump that broke and struck Mr. Adams, breaking his neck and both legs. Death must have resulted almost instantly. Mr. Adams was an honorable and industrious citszen [sic], aged about thirty-eight years. He leaves a wife, having married Miss Sadie Hettish on June 20th, and a daughter aged nine years by a former marriage. The funeral was Wednesday afternoon; Revs. J. R. Miller and H. F. Earseman conducting the services. (Marienville Express) Mr. Adams was quite well known here his first wife being a daughter of Mr. William Wiant of this place.
7-12-1899 - George Adams, formerly of this place and well known here, was killed instantly one day last week by a tree falling upon him while he was working on a job in the woods in Forest county. He leaves a son and a wife that he married only a few months ago. He was a son-in-law of Mr. Wiant, of lower Fifth avenue.
