At the death of James Roop, the property was heired by his wife Mattie Roop and children: Maude Dean and husband J. Frank Dean, Harve Roop and wife Mae Roop, Marshall Roop, Bertha Brown and husband Henry Brown and Edna and Ben Kirk. On a deed dated February 15, 1932, Edna and Ben Kirk bought the property from the other Roop heirs. It consisted of 3.8 acres of land that extended from the L & N Railroad on Poor Valley Road. A lot was later sold to Tip Hughes.
