Thomas, son of Edward & Ann (Keates) Haines was born in England. He was one of seven children. At the age of 25 he married Miss Adeline Dickens at Hartshill, Staffordshire, England. They immigrated to American in 1906. Thomas went to work in the coal mines for The Stuart Colliery Company in Stuart, West Virginia. To this marriage was born a daughter, Annie Evelyn Haines. Thomas died on May 1st 1910 due to a broken back from a mining accident.
