Doris L. Fry, 85, of Clay City, passed away at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the home of her daughter Pat Hughes.
Born June 13, 1920 in Clay City, she was the daughter of James F. Michael and Goldia Love Michael. On October 16, 1937, she married George D. Fry, who passed away April 10, 1960.
She was a homemaker and a devoted mother. She had attended Clay City High School. She was a former member of Amel Dragon's Barn Square Dance Club of Terre Haute, Rough Riders Riding club in Blackhawk, and had been a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of the Abundant Life Worship Center, Church of God.
Survivors include: her children, Barbara Peavler of Clinton, Ill., Edna Thomas of LaJunta, Colo., Patricia Hughes of Clay City, Nancy Richey of Branson, Mo., and Betty Page of Clay City, James Fry of Kenny, Ill., John Fry of Linton, Warren Fry of Clay City, Wayne Fry of Clay City, George D. Fry of Clay City and Ray Fry of Clay City; 48 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; a brother Ralph Michael of Clay City; two sisters, Thelma Musgrave of Riley, and Shirley Noblitt of Bowling Green; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Harold Dean Fry, a daughter Dorothy Fry, two brothers, John Michael and Seth Michael, seven sisters, Edith Smith, Cathryn Hostetler, Mildred Greenwell, Mary Steinhall, Helen Day, and twin sisters in infancy, a grandson Roger Dale Thomas, and three great-grandchildren, John and Brittney Wilson and Tyler Mason Kreis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
