Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories.
Velia was born on March 4, 1953 in Sweetwater [to Francisco Q. and Dolores (Torres) Gomez. She loved doing arts and crafts.
Survivors include a son, Nathan Castro of Abilene, TX; daughters, Erica Castro of Sweetwater, and Tamara Juarez (husband Luis) of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Miguel Juarez and Hannah Juarez of Sweetwater; brothers, Edward Gomez of Sweetwater, Lupe Gomez (wife, Mary Ann) of Grand Prairie, TX, Tony Gomez (wife, Patricia) of Burleson, TX, Frank Gomez Jr. (wife, Ramona) of Seminole, TX, Jerry Gomez (wife, Belinda) of Sweetwater, Rudy Torrez (wife, Lydia) of Oak Cliff, TX, Mario Gomez (wife, Sara) of Sweetwater; sisters, Juanita Gomez of Sweetwater, Delia Sparkman of Abilene, TX, Maria Castro of Sweetwater; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Gloria Castro.
