Lloyd Harold Boom was born on July 8th, 1931 at home in Greenland township, Barnes County, ND to Harold and Gertrude (Van Bruggen) Boom. He completed his education in the Greenland Township School. He married the love of his life, Lola Ann Swier, from Hartford SD, on October 17th 1952. He worked on the family farm and entered the National Guard on November 18th, 1952. He was then transferred into the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on October 18, 1954.
Following his discharge from the Army, Lloyd and Lola made their home near Marion, ND where they farmed. They moved to the town of Marion in 1997 and retired from farming in 2004. Due to failing health, Lloyd entered Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND in March of 2014.
Lloyd enjoyed farming, and was an avid reader. He loved visiting with people and hearing their stories and was intrigued with everything and everyone. He was a very patient and loving husband and father and was adored and will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Lloyd is survived by three daughters, LaDonna (Art) Rode, Lisa (John) Sandygren and Lori (John) Unterseher; a son Len (Lynn) Boom; eight grandchildren and two great granddaughters; a brother Donald (Dorothy) Boom, and a sister Joanne (Conrad) Harthoorn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lola; a grandson, Nathan Rode and an infant granddaughter.
