Margree Barefield was born September 21, 1930 in Beauregard, Mississippi, to Charlie and Leula Smith. She departed this life on Monday, January 26, 2015, at Salem Village Nursing Home in Joliet.
Margree received her education from Lincoln County elementary and high school. In 1951, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie Ester "Brother" Barefield. To this union they had fourteen children. They moved to Joliet in 1952; she worked various jobs as a waitress or housekeeping.
Margree was preceded in death by her parents, Leula and Charlie Smith; her husband, Willie Barefield; one son, Jimmy Lee Barefield; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; six sisters and two brothers.
She leaves to cherish her life, six daughters, Helen (Booker) Helms, Diane, Theresa and Joyce Barefield all of Joliet, IL, Willie Ann (Eddie) Williams of Knob Noster, MO, and Maxcine Barefield of Houston, TX; seven sons, Clarence (Wanda), Daryl , George (Penny) and Calvin Barefield all of Joliet, IL, William (Fran) Barefield of Sedelia, MO, Russell (Angela) Barefield of Atlanta, GA, and Willie (Crystal) Barefield of Kansas City, MO; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren; two sisters, four brothers, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at All Nations C.O.G.I.C., 503 S. Water St., Joliet, IL. Homegoing celebration at 12:00 Noon, Bishop Robert R. Sanders, officiating. Interment Tuesday, February 3, 2015 10:00 AM Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL
