Muskegon Mrs. Dorothy Strait, age 89, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on September 25, 1925 to Burley & Hilda (Rowe) Udell and married Cecil Strait on August 10, 1943 & he preceded her in death in 1985. Dorothy was a member of the Salvation Army, a bell ringer and a volunteer at the Pantry. SURVIVORS three sons, Thomas Strait of MI, Dale (Pam) Strait of MI, Joseph (Connie) Strait of OH; sister, Frances Sorenson of MI; son-in-law Garett Eaton; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and numerous great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; daughter, Rosealie Eaton & 1 grandson Michael Strait. Clock Chapel - Muskegon. Interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIAL American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.Dorothy was born to the union of Burley Udell and Hilda Dora Rowe/ She lost her mother at a very early age and being the oldest she took over the position of mother to her 8 siblings. On August 10, 1943 she married Cecil Strait in Muskegon, to that union was born 4 children, Rosie, Dale, Tom and Joe. She and Cecil were married for 43 years until God called him home in 1985. She loved dogs and collecting porcilin dolls. Aunt Dorothy was like a second mother to me, she was a wonderful and elegant lady. I loved her so very much I am going to miss her even more. She leaves to celebrate her life are her 3 sons; Dale(Pam)Strait of Muskegon; Thomas Strait of Muskegon and Joseph(Connie) Strait of Ohio; 1 sister Francis Sorenson of Muskegon, Son in law; Garette Eaton many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.Greeting her at her heavenly home were; her Mother and Father;husband Cecil,daughter Rosie, Grandson Michael, brothers, George,Gordon, Reggie, GarField and Albert and 2 Sisters Hazel St. John and Gloria Mattson. I will Love you forever and a day my sweet Aunt Dorothy.
