LAWRENCE E. BLANFORD

Lawrence E. "Larry" Blanford, 67, died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital Center in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Greenwood.

He was born June 11, 1922, in Luverne, Minn., to James C. Blanford and Alta Mae (Adams) Blanford. He was married to Mary Ann George Blanford, who survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Paul E. Blanford of Dallas, Michael E. Blanford of Arlington, Texas, and Leslie E. Blanford of Greenwood; a step-son, Rick D. Allen of Franklin; six sisters, Margaret Lingner of Phoenix, Ariz., Sister Maria Alberta of Connecticut, Elma Wamsley of Tucson, Ariz., Loretta Baughman of Greensburg, Lorraine Rose of Tucson and Donna Olin of Indianapolis; five brothers, James Blanford of Greensburg, Francis Blanford of Denton, Texas, Bernard Blanford of Indianapolis, Russell Blanford of Greenwood and Merlyn Blanford of Ronake, Texas; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn K. Morgan.

He was a maintenance worker for K-Mart for nine years before retiring in 1983. He belonged to the Assembly of God Church in Greensburg and was an army veteran of World War II.

A private service took place today. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Wilson-St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel handled arrangement.
