Daughter of James Halsey and Martha "Patti" Peak. She is reported to have been a twin of Matilda Halsey. However the family Bible records Matilda's birth as Feb 22, 1817 and Malinda's birth as Nov 8, 1819 (See the family Bible under the Revolutionary War Pension record for William Halsey, Jr. which was submitted by his wife Rachel Halsey. William & Rachel were the grandparents of Matilda & Malinda).
Malinda married Daniel Daugherty on February 20, 1856 in Ashe County, North Carolina.
Malinda had given birth to 3 known children before she married Daniel Daugherty as her 1st & only husband: Mastin Halsey (b. 3-15-1843, father: Mastin Dunn), Loudema Halsey(b. 1-18-1850, father: Gooch), & Polly Jane Halsey (1853-1940, father: Billy Strange).
Malinda and her husband Daniel appear together in the 1870 & 1880 Federal Censuses. After that Daniel disappears, but Malinda is found living with her daughter & son-in-law, Polly J. & Marshall G. Paisley, in the Wilson District, Grayson County on the 1900 Census. After that she disappears.
