Pansy Ingle Evans

Published: March 4, 2015

Pansy Ingle Evans, 99, of the Lightning Ridge community near Watts, Oklahoma, passed peacefully at her home January 26th.

She lived fully, achieving many admirable goals throughout her long life: she nurtured a long and full marriage, raised and became a primary positive influence on a fine family, created a warm, fun-filled home (which she named "Lightnin' Ridge") and became a much-respected leader in her church and community.

Born in Poteau, Okla. on October 1, 1915 to John Cisney Ingle and Myrtle Hoyle Ingle, she and her family, including two sisters and a brother, followed the booming oil industry but were also often tested by the great depression, moving often across Oklahoma in her youth. In 1935 she married Henry Armand Evans of Wewoka, Okla., a rural mail carrier by profession. They lived in Oklahoma, New York and South Dakota before returning to Oklahoma in 1950. Henry preceded her in death in 2002; they were happily married for 67 years.

Of remarkable beauty and possessing influential style her whole life, she was often compared to Katharine Hepburn, but remained unaffected by the many compliments. She and Henry enjoyed square dancing, horseback riding, card games and dominoes-her wit and strategy were unparalleled. Pansy and Henry were also primary leaders in the Methodist church in their communities.

Pansy was the matriarch of the Evans clan. She is survived by her sons, H. Allen, retired statistical analyst and management consultant, and Thomas, nationally known builder, racer and restorer of custom and vintage motorcycles, both of Los Angeles, California and grandsons Jeffrey, well-known interior designer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Grant, testing engineer of Rogers, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren, Candice, Brandon, Sean and Jacob, and two great-great grandchildren, August and Maveric.

Pansy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her entire family and all who knew her. Services were private.
