Margaret “Peg” Jervis, a resident of Grove Manor since August 2012, formerly of McChesney Way, Grove City, went to her eternal home at 4 p.m. Friday (1-23-15). She was 95.
Mrs. Jervis was born Dec. 1, 1919 in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, a daughter of Lester B. and Ada (Nelson) Offutt.
She was a graduate of Plain Grove High School and the Griffith School of Pittsburgh. Margaret was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for her husband’s plumbing and heating and real estate businesses.
A member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City, since 1955, Margaret served as a Sunday school teacher and Youth Club Bible teacher and belonged to the Fidelis Sunday school class and the Presbyterian Women.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Grove City Woman’s Club and volunteered for Grove City Meals on Wheels for 25 years.
Her husband, John Thomas Jervis, whom she married Oct. 11, 1939, preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1998.
Surviving are: a daughter, Carolyn M. Bender and her husband Norman, and a son, David L. Jervis and his wife Joanne, all of Grove City; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and two brothers, Harold Offutt and his wife Lois, New Wilmington; and Nathan Offutt and his wife Bernice, Zelienople.
