HURLEY - Lois Tremper Charlton, 92, of Hurley, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 of heart failure. Born Nov. 2, 1918 in Parksville, Lois graduated from Kingston High School Class of 1936. During WWII, Lois worked in the powder mill helping provide ammunition for the troops. She was married in 1943 to Francis E. Charlton, who died in 1985...
Always a tomboy, Lois remembered playing basketball in a pre-game warm-up for the Boston Celtics and golfing throughout the Catskills. Lois was a member of the service club at the Hurley Reformed Church and spent many younger years teaching the Hurley men to Charleston for the Lions Follies.
