Arthur W. Drossel, 76, of Anthon, died May 18, 1994, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa, after a long illness. Services were held at the Anthon United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Bernard, Jr. and Rev. Dave Lamberson officiating. Burial was in memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City with military honors by Smith-Rhodes Post 295, American Legion of Sloan. Mr. Drossel was born July 20, 1917, in Lawton, the son of James and Fredericka (Ronnau) Drossel. He farmed prior to serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He married Mary Alice Fitchner December 26, 1945, in Anthon. The couple farmed in the Anthon and Salix area until 1980 when he retired because of poor health and moved to Sloan. In 1991 they moved to Anthon. Mr. Drossel was a member of the Anthon United Methodist Church, American Legion, served on the Woodbury Extension Council for a number of years and with the ASCS of Lakeport Township. Survivors include his wife, son Art and his wife Chris Drossel of Cosby, Missouri, four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Elaine) Hughes of Independence, Susan McConnell of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mrs. Dana (Patsy) Clemmons of Sioux City and Mrs. Mike (Lisa) Morlock of Ankeny, Iowa, four sisters and eight grandchildren.
