Robert Brown was born about 1850 in Pennsylvania, according to newspaper reports. He was a respected District Attorney in Yavapai County, Arizona at the time of his death.
Mr. Brown's death came two days after being diagnosed with Pneumonia and three days after returning from a trip to Kingman 'under the influence of liquor'. He committed suicide in the early morning hours of the day while his wife slept, by very deliberately cutting the arteries in his arm with a razor, something described in gruesome detail in the newspaper cited below.
Mr. Brown was buried Thursday, January 28th. The newspaper reporting his death also had this to say about him:
" Deceased was a man of fine ability, a good lawyer,and possessed of noble and generous impulses. No man ever applied to him for relief, that it was in his power to grant, that was denied it. It is said that,'an honest man is the noblest work of God,' and none can gainsay the fact that deceased was an honest man. Whatever faults he possessed were attributable to the weakness of human nature.Let them be vailed(sp?) with the mantle of charity, and may the good deeds, and the kindness of heart, for which he was noted, be overcherished as a pleasant memory by his friends." --JournalMiner
