DOVER --- Russell L. Stoppard, 75, of 3971 W. Canal Road, died Wednesday morning at York Hospital. He was the widower of Katheryn Stein Stoppard.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the L. E. Diehl Funeral Home, Mount Wolf, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the York Chapter, American Cancer Society, or to the York County Association for Retarded Citizens, 240 E. Haymeadow Drive, York.

Mr. Stoppard was born in Hellam Township, son of the late Thomas and Clara Lehman Stoppard.

He was a retired employee of the Hanover Wire Cloth Co. and a member of St. David's Evangelical Congregation, Weigelstown.

Surviving are eight children, Rhoda Bahn, 3941 W. Canal Road, Anna Mary Mark, Dillsburg, George Stoppard, York, Luther Stoppard, Hatfield, Pa., Phillip Stoppard, York, Rachel Cadwallader, Wellsville, Kenneth Stoppard, Dover, and Ruth Snyder, York New Salem.

Surviving also are 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Virgie Nace, Mount Wolf, and a brother, Joseph Stoppard, Mount Wolf RD 1.

The Rev. Frederick J. Moury Jr., his pastor, will officiate.
