Lilian Kathleen Wampler Rollins, of Blacksburg, Virginia passed peacefully in the home, January 14, 2015, she and her husband, Forest had established, enjoyed, and entertained in since the early 1950's.

Kathleen to most, "Kathy" to her Radford College classmates friends, colleagues, and "Sis" to the four younger brothers; was the eldest of six children born to Agnes Mae Hale and Wythe Fielder Wampler.

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, Graves Wythe, Thornton Garland "Corky", Elbert Hale, Sr. "Ebbie"; infant sister, Martha Ann; her loving and caring husband Forrest Dryden Rollins; several sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Kathleen's legacy of being a "Lady", one of love and devotion to her family and friends, is cherished through endless memories and actions by her two daughters, Agnes Thornton Rollins and Montreo Kathleen Rollins Pursifull and her husband, Krieg Pursifull, grandchildren, Leigh-Ann Dryden Pursifull, and Karen Emily and husband, Jamie Radford, and her great grandchildren, Phillip Matthew and Forrest Bradley Radford, who always brought a smile to Kathleen's face and put a special sparkle in her brown eyes. Kathleen is survived by her youngest brother, Bernard Campbell "Bunny" Wampler, brother-in-law, Roman Elmore Rollins, Sr., seventeen nieces and nephews, several great nieces, nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Born in Asheville, North Carolina on March 12th, 1921, growing up in Galax, Virginia, graduating from Redford College in 1942, Kathleen always had a special love for music. It was a constant part of her life with her mother, a Sullins College graduate playing the piano accompanying her father, an Emory and Henry graduate, playing the violin. Kathleen completed her degree in Public School Music and continued her love for music, teaching children in Williamsburg, Virginia. As an accomplished soloist and pianist, given the honorary rank of Captain, Kathleen distinguished herself as an Army Hostess during WWII at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia.

After the war, Kathleen returned to Radford College as Social Director and Assistant to Dean Moffett. During this employment, Kathleen was introduced to Forrest, then a Math Professor at VPI. Through their student's introduction they began their courtship and were married in 1949. Joining her husband in Blacksburg where they lived a full life, they devoted themselves to Virginia Tech and the Blacksburg community, they so dearly loved. They opened their home graciously to all with immense southern hospitality and elegance.

Dedicated to supporting her husband Kathleen became a loyal Tech admirer, later an employee of Virginia Tech. For many years Kathleen's counseling enabled her to bring out the best in others, encouraging, forgiving and reconciling. Her kind, gentle nature coupled with her strong Christian character set the example to assist others to desire to be and do their best. Kathleen professed her faith in Christ and joined the United Methodist Church in Galax, Virginia in 1931. She continued her faith for over sixty five years with membership and commitment to Blacksburg United Methodist Church. Kathleen was a long time member of the Virginia Tech Faculty Women's Club, Hokie Club, Tech Sports Club, and reuniting her beloved "Radford Gang". Kathleen was proud to be a member of the Alleghany Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution taking great pride in her family linage and regularly attended Hale reunions in Elk Creek, Virginia both for over fifty years.

There are no words to adequately express the family's gratitude for the thoughtful acts, heartfelt prayers and loving support shared by her church, family, friends, neighbors and caregivers. We especially thank the New River Valley Carillon Hospice, Good Sam Hospice, Dr. Chad Thompson of Blacksburg, Virginia and Dr. Lawrence Marshall of Floyd, Virginia.

Our undying love will continue to be stirred by the memories of our Mother's lifetime of love, sharing and giving.
