George Levi Carlile of Cottage Grove passed away at the Eugene hospital on Thursday night at 10 o’clock. He was one of the best known men of middle age in the Cottage Grove country, having been employed in the logging camps as foreman since 1906. He has been employed most of the time by his father-in-law, A.L. Woodard for 22 years. His death was due to his heart caused by sudden strain while replacing flue-pipes in the boiler at the A.L. Woodard mill at Veatch’s spur.

Mr. Carlile was born at Goldendale, Washington, April 11, 1884, was married to Susie Lillian Woodard, November 17, 1907. He is survived by his widow, and seven children: Vivian, 14; Marguerite, 12; Kenneth, 10; Grace, 8; Wendell, 5; Madge, 4; and Arthur, 1; also by five sisters, three brothers, and one held-brother. The sisters are Mrs. Lillie Heron of Marshfield, Mrs. Viola Boren of Camas Valley, Mrs. Rose Belieu of Bridge, Mrs. Mary Doolittle of Weed, Cal., and Mrs. Eve Young of Cottage Grove; brothers Frank of Cottage Grove, Wesley of Myrtle Point, William of Myrtle Point and half-brother Monroe Carlile of Canada.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. J.E. Carlson of the Christian church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment in the Masonic and IOOF cemetery in Cottage Grove.
