Services for Raymond W. Brintle were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Leon Baptist Church. Officiating were Rev. Bryan Adair, Rev. Jim May and Rev. John Sconce.
Born January 1, 1915, at Enville, Mr. Brintle died May 5, 1998, at Lake Country Manor Nursing Home in Marietta at the age of 83. He was the son of William F. and Cora Mae Stewart Brintle.
A resident of Leon since 1923, he married Bertie Ross January 5, 1938, at Ardmore. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year at Lake Country Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Brintle was a retired farmer and a member of the Leon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 51 years. He also sponsored the church youth group at Falls Creek Baptist Assembly for 11 years. Mr. Brintle was a field supervisor for the ASC for over 30 years and was on the Leon Board of Education for 13 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertie Brintle of the home at Leon; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Raymond and Hilda Brintle of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Opal Blankenship of Courtney and Willa Mae McCarty of Leon; a brother-in-law, James Ross of Garland, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Billy Mayo and May Hall of Fort Worth; three grandsons, Raymond John Brintle, Brian Brintle and Clint Brintle; two step-granddaughters, Rebecca Oberhaus and Cynthia Martinez; and a step-great-grandson, Alec Martinez.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dallas Taliaferro, Pat Parker, Terry Hyman, Richard Wild, Gerald Bone, Jimmy Frazier, Alvie Reed and Burl Brown. Honorary bearers included Adrian Frazier, Lyndon Parker, Randall Phillips, Larry Hicks, E.L. Clark, Thurman Monkres, Woodrow Kendall, Raymond Self, Paul Hallum and James Weldon Hicks.
