She was married to Clyde Nichols Swann (1890–1952), the son of George Matthew Swann (1866–1941) and Mary Cornelia (Bratton) Swann (1866–1946).
Living on East Graylyn Drive in Donelson in Davidson County, Brownie was 64 years old and a widow when she had a heart attack and died at home on April 7, 1955. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
