MACON CHRONICLE-HERALD, Macon, Missouri,
HELEN LORENE JOHNSON
Helen Lorene Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 13, 2014, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri. She was born on November 8, 1927 at her great-grandmother's Missouri home. A deeply loved mother, who was passionate about her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ, she will be remembered for her loving kindness, gentle nature and quiet, bright smile. Helens devotion to her husband, Clyde, as well as her children and grandson leaves a lasting legacy.
Helen met Clyde Johnson while attending the same church. Their love was obvious after just three months of dating, so they married on December 6, 1947. They were devoted to one another for 66 years. Their loving union brought forth two beautiful daughters, Carmen (Johnson) Duncan and Marilyn Ann (Johnson) Loy.
Helen worked on an assembly line at Toastmaster for 35 years. She was a devoted wife and mother who especially loved to cook and bake. She also had a wonderful talent for hand embroidering quilts and towels. She was a very giving person. Her family, friends and neighbors were often the recipients of her baked goods and embroidery work. As a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Macon, she is well remembered for bringing her delicious sugar cookies to Bible study.
Helen will be deeply missed by her husband, Clyde W. Johnson of Macon, MO; her daughters, Carmen Duncan of Macon, MO and Marilyn Loy of Cedar Hills, MN; one grandson, Nathan Duncan of Macon, MO; two sisters, Ada Farmer of Macon, MO and Virginia Tubbs of Bevier, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Orva Fern Faught; her sisters Dorothy, Leona, and Catherine and her one brother, Alfred.
The family wants to thank the many devoted family, friends, caregivers (at Loch Haven) and Hospice Compassus who were a part of making Helens last weeks on this earth as peaceful and pleasant as possible. A special thanks to her primary physician, Dr. James McDowell, who had such a kind and gentle way of taking special care of Helen.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Macon with Pastor Dave Reese officiating. Burial will be in New Cambria Cemetery in New Cambria, Missouri. Visitation will be Monday evening, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Memorials are suggested to be made to Hospice Compassus.
