McArthur, Ohio Dec. 17, 1876
Mrs. Elizabeth Shockey, wife of the late Jacob Shockey, and mother of ex-sheriff J.J. Shockey, of McArthur, and of G.W. Shockey, clerk in the Auditor’s office at Washington, died at the residence of her son-in-law, Parker Rankin, in this town, last night, aged eighty-four years. She was born near Martinsburg, NA., in 1792, and came to this county in 1821, then a wilderness, being one of the first settlers of this part of Athens County.
