Robert N. Fenchel, 93, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Patterson Heights, died Saturday, December 27, 2014 in Reformed Presbyterian Home, Pittsburgh.
Born March 31, 1921 in Beaver Falls, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Mary C. (Wissner) Fenchel. Before retiring in 1982, he had worked as an accounting clerk for United States Steel Fabrication, formerly American Bridge in Ambridge. Robert was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church in Patterson Twp. and was elected to the Board of Deacons in 1956 and was selected as the church treasurer in 1963 a position he held for 50 years. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School and attended Robert Morris School of Business and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Erna Fenchel, Harleysville, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharyn and Donald McBurney, Chippewa Twp.; five grandchildren, Heather and Dr. Christopher Schreier, Coatesville, PA, Timothy and Jessica Fenchel, Lederach, PA, Amanda and David Gotwals, Collegeville, PA, Ryan and Joy McBurney, Galloway, OH, and Lauren and Johnathan Neiswinger, Bel Air, MD, and 11 great-grandchildren: Caleb, Jaeden, Analiese, Hayley, Brooke, Izaiah, Edan, Colby, Ella, Aiden and Ana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (Coates) Fenchel; great-granddaughter, Abigail, and a brother, Richard Fenchel.
Friends will be received Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in the CAMPBELL'S CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 2618 Darlington Road, with Reverend Bruce Backensto officiating.
Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum, Rochester, PA.
