Ethel M. Renes, 89 years old, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Hospice House, South Bend. Mrs. Renes was born on June 23, 1925 in Lakeville, IN to the late Otis and Edna (Hoffman) Andrews. On March 27, 1948 in Lakeville, Ethel was united in marriage to Chester Renes who preceded in death on April 13, 1993. Three sisters, Nellie VanGilder, Esther Dyer and Dorothy Tener; and four brothers, Donald, DeVere, Billie and Jake Andrews all preceded their sister in death.

Mrs. Renes has been a longtime member of Community Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother. Ethel was a longtime employee at the William Schlarb Farms near Wyatt, IN from the 1950's to the 1990's. She was an integral part of their produce operation from the planting of the seed, bringing in the harvest, and supplying to the consumer at the markets. Ethel brought inspiration and joy to this special farming business that was so close to the earth and nature she loved.

Mrs. Renes is survived by her three children; daughter, Connie Renes of South Bend; sons, Dennis (Diane) Renes of Lake Havasu, AZ and David (Spring) Renes of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Danielle Ayodo, Josh (Brittney) Renes, Naomi Renes, Shelby Renes, and Ethan (Lexi) Renes; thirteen great grandchildren, Tyler, Desirae, Derrick, Jackson, Gavin, Brennan, Brayden, Makayla, Haylie, Dakota, Kyndria, Tanner and Oliviana; two sisters, Delores Beechler of Osceola and Erma Hostetler of Nappanee; and one brother, George Andrews of Bremen. Mrs. Renes is also survived by a special friend who was like a son, Ron Simons, of Wyatt, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30th, at the funeral home.
