SERVICES ARE CONDUCTED
FOR JOSEPH GOLDBERG, 60

Joseph Goldberg, 60, of 1632 Carroll St., director of the Brooklyn Jewish Center for 33 years, was buried yesterday in Montefiore Cemetery, Springfield, after services had been held for him at the center, 667 Eastern Parkway.

More than 1,200 persons attended the rites, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Israel H. Levinthal, rabbi of the center.

Mr. Goldberg, who died Saturday, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ann Rosebaum Goldberg; two sons, Ephraim and Alvin; five sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.

Born in Jassy, Romania, Mr. Goldberg came to this country in 1909.

He attended Long Island Business College, was secretary of the Brooklyn Committee of the American Jewish Congress from 1916 to 1917, and served overseas with the 77th Division in World War I as a Corporal.

He was a member of J. W. V. Post 61 and had been vice president of the Eastern Parkway District of the Zionist Organization of America, founder and former president of the National Association of Synagogue Directors and president of the Center Directors Association.

He was also active in the Federation of Jewish Philantropies, United Jewish Appeal, Israel Bond Drives and the Jewish Theological Seminary.
