Ethelda Gordon “Cookie” Beer, 94, died December 22, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born July 29, 1920, to Charles and Margaret (Purcell) Gough in Owensboro, Ky. She was a member of First Baptist Church. In 1985, she retired as a Clerk for the Reno County Treasurers office. On every Tuesday you would find “Cookie” at Delos V. Smith Senior Center playing Bingo. On December 31, 1939, she married Leonard Duane Beer in Hutchinson. He died January 24, 1981.

Survivors include: two sons, four grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bill, Ray, Chuck, and Fred Gough, sisters, Jo Coehn, Toby Gough, Maxine Manderville, and Katie Ketchum.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Tyler Vance presiding. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Center of Hutchinson, in care of the funeral home.
