Marine Lance Cpl. Marcus Mahdee, age 20, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida died as a result of wounds received from an enemy explosion while conducting combat operations in the vicinity of Al Karmah, Iraq. Marcus was an outstanding Marine, always patriotic and serving in the Marines was very important to him. He was also inspired by six of his uncles who served in the military. He was a great athlete who excelled in football and weight lifting and also a devout Christian and a leader in his church, the Church of Christ at Sylvania Heights. He loved to sing in church and to teach the children about the Bible. He was a very special person who always went out of his way to help others and always lived by his Christian values. Marcus was a handsome, caring, intelligent, compassionate, and dedicated Marine. He was deployed to Iraq in January 2005.
