Joe A. Barnes, 87, of Judsonia died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at a Searcy hospital.

Born Nov. 11, 1914, at Campbell, he was the son of William Jefferson and Nora Sutterfield Barnes. He was a bricklayer and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons, William L. Barnes of Bald Knob, David W. Barnes Sr. of Judsonia and James J. Barnes of Beebe; a daughter, Ernestine Payne of Tupelo; a sister, Claudia Massey of Leslie; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Mae Collins Barnes; six brothers; three sisters; and a granddaughter, Nora Catherine Jacobs.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roosevelt Missionary Baptist Church with Paul Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in Roosevelt Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Steve Griffin, John Osborn, Randy Altom, Guy Watkins, Gary Baker, Jackie Stewart and Duane Stewart.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
