There seems to be some confusion as to Bain's exact birthdate. Some records show October 13, while other give his birthday as November 13 or 18. Some record indicate he was born in 1879, others give his birth year as 1880. He was the son of John Alexander Ashford and Sarah Elizabeth (Carr) Ashford. He was married to Eva Lebow November 12, 1905 in Polk County, Arkansas by D. L. Rollins. On November 8, 1923 he was married to Trena (Rose) Thompson by T. F. Kelly, Minister, in Alamosa, Alamosa County, Colorado. Most likely while visiting his son in Arizona, Bain died of a coronary occlusion.
