Harry Cecil Buckles, Jr., a longtime Ripley resident, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home at the age of 83.

Harry was born on October 28, 1933 on a farm in Ripley, Oklahoma to the late Harry Cecil Buckles Sr. and Gertie Myrtle (Meyers) Buckles, one of 11 siblings. He grew up in Ripley, graduating from Ripley High School in 1952. Harry joined the Army in 1953 as PFC (Private First Class) in the Med Co. for two years during the Korean War. After returning from the service, he married the love of his life Rosemary G. Brown on October 19, 1955 in Chandler, Ok. Their three daughters were born: Kathy, Debra, and Kimberley. In 1980, Harry was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Cushing, OK.

Harry worked for the Midland Refinery in Cushing from 1955 until it shut down. Then, he started working at the Indian Meridian Vo-tech in 1983; afterwards, he went back to work for Hudson Refinery, in 1991, when they reopened for a year on a special project. Then, he began working in the maintenance department at the YMCA in Stillwater for many years. During this time, he was also working in maintenance at Cherry Lane Apartments until he finally decided to retire. Gardening, riding his tractor and taking care of his beloved animals were part of his everyday routines that he enjoyed. Harry loved spending time with his daughters and his grandchildren.

Harry is survived by his daughters: Kathy Williams and her husband Earl, Debra Beck and her husband Jeff,, Kimberley Barton, sister Virginia Austin and her husband Billy, sisters-in-law Wanda Buckles and Evie Buckles. Grandchildren: Tiffany Owens and her husband, Jacob, Malaki Williams, Matthew Williams, Adam Beck and his wife Jackie, Eric Beck, Tyler Beck, Megan Williams and her husband Jake, Bradley McDonald and his wife Emerson. Great Grandchildren: Ashton and Siarra Beck, Jayden and Braxton Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Rosemary, and his brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Parkland Cemetery in Parkland, Oklahoma. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.
