He was born on September 21, 1929 to Karl and Josephine (Tulley) Brandau in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Roland had been a production planner at Ball Corporation. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army; was a Mason and an active member of the Amaranth in Muncie; and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by daughters, Debra (Ed) Crowley and Linda (Burnett) Smith; son, Rick (Cyndi) Brandau; grandchildren, John Dancy, Zip Dancy, Chrissy Smith, Aaron Smith, Sara Brandau, Nicole Brandau; and four great-grandchildren, John Jr., Hannah, Criz and Mae.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jane Brandau.
