The most wonderful brother and best friend in the whole world was taken to a better place, he is now back with mom & dad - no longer tied to an oxygen tube, face mask or bed due to his COPD. He can breathe like he hasn't been able to for years and he can walk as far as he wants and even run. He has been in the hospital so many times these past few years and was getting pretty tired of it all. The reason for passing was his heart stopped, the muscles were just too weak to keep pumping.
There is nothing like the Elliott sense of humor and that will certainly be missed, as well as his quick mind, ability to actually see what he was thinking, and make everything beautiful. He could lift your spirits with his smile, and you knew when he was thinking of something ornery by the twinkle of his Snyder blue eyes and he had his dad's walk - slow and easy. You also knew when you screwed up and his temper would flare. His only flaw was his inability to forgive... he wasn't really good in that department, but if you were in his graces, he'd give you the shirt off his back.
He lived life, loved muscle cars and had a passion for Pickups, Corvettes and SPEED; his favorite was a little orange Chevy Pickup with a sign on the back 'Jim Beam Special'. He had his own "Duffy Do's" that quickly changed any car or truck, so they never looked like anyone else's on the street, like removing all names or logos, he didn't believe in free advertising no matter the product. He never liked his vehicles dusty let alone dirty, and if you washed it for him, better do an excellent job or it would be redone.
He served in the US ARMY, 1966-1967 in Viet Nam, drove a little Duce and 1/2 that had some "Duffy Do's" done to it, not exactly Military Code, but it was all his until the Army made him put it back to military code. Broke his little heart!
He couldn't tolerate people that mistreated kids or pets no matter where it might be.
He was an artist, smart as a whip, could do figures in his head like daddy, loved reading like mom and could make anything. He was a gifted welder and mechanic; he could design any tool you might need out of whatever was laying around. He was your bestest best friend and the sweetest, kindest person alive.
At our last visit he asked me to give everyone his love and thank them for their concern... so I'm passing that on from Duffy... "Thank you for caring."
UPDATE: Duffy & Jude's ashes were placed to rest at 11:25 a.m. where he requested in the Pacific Ocean, Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA on 16 Sept 2023 near the entrance of his workplace, ITS (International Transportation Services, Inc.), where he spent many hours fishing and enjoying the quiet at lunch time and breaks at what he called Pier J, inside the company compound.
The Service was performed by The Angels Ashes / The Last Watch Foundation and it was beautiful. Pat O'Connor, President, and his son Captain Sean O'Connor left all attending with a wonderful feeling of Closure and Peace at coordinates: Latitude: 33ﹾ44.388' N Longitude: 118ﹾ10.618' W CRD # 889
