Lorene Kern Baird, 108, Fulton, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Miller's Merry Manor, Logansport.

She was born on July 14, 1906, in Fowler, the daughter of John and Laurel (Hopwood) Kern. On Sept. 28, 1923, in Fulton, she married James Beveridge 'Bev' Baird. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1968.

Mrs. Baird was a homemaker, and she previously worked at the Fulton schools and for Topps Industries in Rochester. She attended the Fulton United Methodist Church, where she had been active in Ladies Aid. Mrs. Baird had been grand marshal of the Fulton Fun Days parade in its originating year and was in the parade every year since. In her spare time she stayed active tending to her yard, gardening and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing euchre.

Survivors include daughters Sharon Baird, Fulton, and Maxine and husband Joseph Yater, Fort Wayne; son Charles and wife Dorothy Baird, Fulton; grandchildren Ronnie and wife Jan Yater, Martinsville, Beverly and husband Harold Ditmer, Fort Wayne, Nancy and husband Johnny Thompson, Twelve Mile, Stella and husband Hiram Hoover, Logansport, and Karen and husband Bob Mundy, Logansport; 10 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son James B. Baird Jr., sisters Edith Kern Senesac and Florence Allman and brother Andrew Kern.

Her funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the Fulton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Todd Wilson, Rev. George Hapner and Rev. Bruce Russell officiating. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service at the church.

Burial is to be at Fulton Cemetery.
