Jimmy Kenneth Calloway, age 68, of Miniature Lane, Hudson, died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 27, 1945 in Avery County to the late James Leo and Vintie Arnett Calloway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wayburn Calloway; and three sisters, Pansy Keene, Beatrice Kaylor and Elsie Reece.

Mr. Calloway was a steelworker for Calloway Erection since 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Vannoy Calloway of the home; two sons, Jimmy Chris Calloway and wife Joyce and Jeffery Scott Calloway, all of Lenoir; one daughter, Kim Leann Mitchell and husband Michael of Newton; three brothers, J. H. Calloway of Hildebrand, Buster Calloway of Newton and Ronnie Calloway of Hickory; one sister, Glenda Carter of Hudson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Lonnie Bell.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
