Bobby Ray Thurman, 63, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, after a lengthy illness at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of Meigs County, he was a son of the late Robert and Hazel Thurman, and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Thurman and Linda Gail Brooks.
Survivors include his loving wife, Cheryl Thurman of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Rebecca Thurman of Decatur, and James and Pattie Thurman of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Lance England of Ten Mile; eight grandchildren, two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; one brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Rose Thurman of Decatur; and five nephews and four nieces.
At his request, there will be no formal visitation or service.
A private burial will be in Short Creek Cemetery.
