Hugh farmed by Colesburg for a number of years. Following retirement, he worked at Farmers Mutual Insurance in Garnavillo. In later years, his winters were spent in Arizona and summers in Michigan.
Survivors include his wife Eleanor; two step-sons, David Geer and family and Daniel Geer and family; one step-daughter, Diane Parkhill and family; one sister, Bobbie Peake; one brother, Fleet Peake and family and many nieces and nephews.
