Mazie Blanton Blankenship, 57, Southridge Drive, Somerset, Kentucky passed away Thursday, July 24th, 2003 at her residence.

She was born October 27th, 1945 in Corbin, Kentucky, a daughter of the late F. C. Blanton and Gladys Speaks Blanton. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in sociology and history, a former social worker for the VA Hospital in Lexington Kentucky, the current Administrative Assistant for the United Way of South Central Kentucky, a member of the First Christian Church of Somerset and a member of the choir and Women's Ensemble.

She is survived by her husband; Tom Blankenship, whom she married on February 15th, 1969 in Lexington, Kentucky: one son; Sean Blankenship, Nashville, Tennessee: one brother; C. B. Blanton, New York, New York: one sister; Iris Blanton, Louisville, Kentucky: 2 sisters in law; Sally (and Phill) Scott and Dixie (and Frank) Patterson, both of Winchester, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents: one brother; Kenneth Blanton.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27th, 2003 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Gatton and Reverend C. H. Dudley officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery, Corbin, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26th, 2003 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
