Lila D. DeVan, 71, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

She was born January 18, 1943 in Monticello, MO; the daughter of Edgar and Juanita (Washington) Tate. Lila worked as a C.N.A. for many years with area nursing homes prior to her retirement. She was a devoted grandmother and played the "mother role" in her three grandchildren's lives, Tashanna, Michael and Brittany. She made a lot of sacrifices for her family and worked hard as a single parent to raise her four wonderful children.

Those continuing her legacy include her children: Mary "Tiny", Ronnie, Curtis and Jeffery DeVan, all of Davenport; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Viola Tate, Davenport; brothers, James Tate, Davenport; Russell Tate, South Bend, IN and Robert Tate, Hannibal, MO; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by brothers: Clarence "Chuck" Tate and Charles Tate and a sister, Mary Mallory.
