"While dynamiting fish on Perkins land west of Craig, Mo, on Missouri River, Edvar VanDeventer was killed by explosion of the dynamite, both eyes blown out, both hands and one leg was blown off. It occured on the 23rd.

Edfer Vandenventer died March 23, 1903, of Mound City, Mo., aged 33. He was killed by a TNT blast while fishing on the Missouri River. He was born in Neb. Oct. 22, 1867. He came with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Vandeventer to Holt County about 16 years ago. He married Miss Bessie Walter in June of 1898. Two children were born. About two years ago he moved over the river to near Rulo, Neb. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
