BARKER, LaVonne (Taylor), age 77, of Dayton, departed this life on Friday, November 28, 2014. She was the first of three children born on January 22, 1937 to the union of Lois and Clark R. Taylor in Dayton, OH.

She was a graduated of Julienne High School, class of 1955. LaVonne attended Sinclair Community College and University of Dayton; majoring in early childhood education. She was a former employee of McCall Corporation, and co-founded, along with her mother - Nana's Daycare on Delphos Ave. for over forty years. A proactive and lifelong Catholic, she attended Church of the Resurrection (renamed St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church). She took active involvement in various educational and church related clubs, groups and organizations.

She was a loving mother. She loved sports; however, track and field were her favorites. Her love, honor and commitment for family are some of her key strengths that extended to friends. Everyone that connected with La Vonne felt her love, joy, compassion and grace. She was an excellent cook, caregiver and homemaker. La Vonne's living legacy of virtues will continue; she will be deeply missed. Words of wisdom often spoken by La Vonne... "Right or wrong, always tell your family the truth. We will be there to back you up." "Always be clean when you leave the house. Take care of yourself. Be neat and be clean."

She is survived by her husband of 55 yrs., Olious E Barker; (6) sons and (1) daughter-in-law, Eric (Teri), Timothy, Shawn, Damian, Darien and Olious "Keir"; (13) grandchildren Erica, Teryn, Kayela, Tabetha, Timothy, Soraya, Talyr, Ja'Chelle, Jalen, Keir Jr, Breanna, Megan and Kelly; (6) great-grandchildren; siblings, Doris Daugherty and Clark Richard Taylor Jr (Quincy), in-laws William Leonard (Beverly) Barker and Frank Anthony "Tony" (Carolyn) Barker, and a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Gwen Lee and Juanita Jones
