SILAS A. STOUT
Funeral services for Silas A. Stout, former Emporian who died Thursday in Wichita, were held Sunday at his home in Hazelton. Death followed several months' sickness. Emporia relatives and friends who attended the services were Mrs. A. M. Stout, Mrs. Orrie Harris, Earl Stout, Glen Stout, Howard Stout, Lawrence Stout, Mrs. Eva Collins, James Quakenbush and Mrs. Minnie Williams. Burial was at Hazelton.
Silas Stout was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Stout. He was born February 13, 1863 on a farm six miles west of Emporia and grew up there. About 50 years ago he went to Barber county, took up a claim and returned shortly afterward to marry Miss Jane Andrews of Emporia. His widow and six children. The sons are Harvey Stout, Kiowa; Benjamin Stout, Tulsa, Okla.; Roy Stout, Denver, Colo.; Charles and Clements Stout, Hazelton; and Gladys Stout, of the home. A son, George, died in the World war. Silas Stout is also survived by three brothers, Milton C. Stout, who lives in Oklahoma; Alva M. Stout, Route 5, Emporia; and Oron Stout of Texas.
Besides the Emporia relatives and friends who went to Hazelton for the funeral services, the following persons attended from Strong City: Mrs. J.E. Stout, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stout and Mrs. James Long and son.
