Thos. D. Houpt, Life Long Resident of County Passes
Thomas D. Houpt, 83 years old, son of Thomas and Malinda Nash Houpt, a lifelong resident and farmer of Sullivan County, died Thursday afternoon at the home of his grandson, Walter Gilkerson in Vincennes, after an illness of several months. Surviving are the widow, Mary Engle Houpt, to whom he had been married for sixty-one years, four daughters, Mrs. Nelle Rentz of Princeton, Ind., Mrs. June Gilkerson of Sullivan, Mrs. Carrie Myers of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Jennie DeLisle of Terre Haute; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends are asked to call at the Billman Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be made in Center Ridge Cemetery.

Last rites were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Billman Chapel for Thomas D. Houpt, lifelong Sullivan county resident who passed away Thursday afternoon in Vincennes. The Rev. Dan Mathes officated. Burial was made in Center Ridge Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Russell Cox, Eddie Johnson, Frank Sanders, Jasper Engle, Dan Scott and Charles Scott. Flower bearers were Myrtle Macy, Flora Scott, Grace and Evla.
