OBITUARY:

J.C. Houpt By Special Correspondent. Sullivan, Ind. Sept. 23.

J.C. Houpt, 77 years old, one of the best known and most highly respected citizens of Hamilton township, died Friday afternoon at his home just south of Sullivan. Heart trouble and dropsy are named as the contributing causes. Mr. Houpt has been seriously ill for several months and his advanced age was said to be against his recovery. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Last Sad Services Honor Deceased Man

The funeral of J. Clinton Houpt, the veteran carpenter was held from the late residence south of Sullivan Sunday afternoon at four o'clock. Rev. J.A. Sumwalt, in an impressive manner held the last sad services honoring the memory of the well known and well respected man and with sweet words of sympathy urged grieving relatives and friends to remember the promised reward to which the deceased man had passed.

Music, appropriate and beautiful was furnished by Mrs. Katherine Kirkham, Mrs. Paul Stratton, R.A. Plunkett and L.A. Stewart.

The pallbearers, friends and business associates of the man who had answered the death summons were Messrs. Ed Curtis, Silas Monroe, Lewis Pirtle, Will Bolinger, James Ridge and Al Griffith. Interment was at Center Ridge Cemetery.
