Daughter of Neil Nicholson and Annie MacLeod Nicholson, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Annie grew up in Canada and moved to Connecticut around 1880. Her first husband was Malcolm MacKenzie of Prince Edward Island. She was living in Boston when she met and married Alexander MacPherson. MacPherson and her son John Malcolm MacKenzie predeceased her. After her second husband died, she ran a boarding house in Boston. Her daughter Laurena "Lena" F. MacKenzie Bird survived her.
