Katie Trojahn was born on March 25, 1885, at Dixon, Iowa. Her parents were Jacob and Anna Trojahn. At the age of 6 years she came with her parents to the western part of the state. On February 7, 1905, she was united in marriage with Christian Ludwig Theodore Buhrmann, who preceded her in death by a little more than 4 years, departing this life on November 3, 1943. Seven childlren were born into the family, 2 of whom died shortly after birth. The surviving children are Mrs. Nick (Dora) Nagel, of Hartley; Chris Buhrmann of Moneta; Mrs. John (Sophie) Boetel, and Louis Buhrmann, of Hartley; and Mrs. Joe (Lulu) Smertenko, of Minneapolis, Minn.
32 years the deceased lived and labored with her husband on a farm 1 mile north and ½ mile east of Moneta. In the year 1939, she moved with her husband to the home which they had purchased in the east part of the town of Hartley.
In the year 1944 the deceased became a member of the Lutheran Church through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and the rite of Confirmation. She was a kind a thoughtful mother, whose constant concern was the welfare of her children. She was a considerate and helpful neighbor who was held in high esteem by all who were acquainted with her.
The funeral service was held in St. Paul's Church, with Rev. A. C. Weber in charge. Ray Trojahn, Ed Lorenzen, Byron Aldrich, Lawrence Klinker, Melvin Schwein, and Darrel Trojahn were the pall-bearers. The body was laid to rest beside that of her deceased husband in Pleasant View Cemetery.
She leaves to mourn her passing her 5 surviving children, named above; her aged mother, Mrs. Anna Trojahn, of Cherokee; 2 daughter-in-laws; 3 son-in-laws; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers, 2 sisters; and many other relatives and friends.
