PIONEER LADY CALLED
Mrs Rebecca Brown-Wells wife of Lawson H Wells died at her home at 812 Lane street at about noon Thursday July 20 at the age of seventy-three years four months and twenty-flve days. Deceased was born in Morgan county Illinois on February 25 1849 daughter of Mr and Mrs Jubel Brown Her parents arrived at Sabetha Kansas in 1856 where they made their home until 1865 when they moved to their home on Pony Creek south of this city She came here as child of years and with the exception of few yearn spent elsewhere had madte her home here continuously She was united in marriage at the M E church parsonage here in 1873 to Lawson H Wells who survives her the ceremony being performed by Rev Col Presson. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her daughter Mrs Robert Pool and two sons Arthur residing near Hiawatha Kansas and Oliver Wells of Moscow Idaho now enroute to this city. The remains were taken to the Reavis & Macomber undertaking parlors to await the arrival of out of town relatives The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p m Deceased was a second cousin of the famous John Brown noted in Kansas and Nebraska history in civil war days.
